What we did with the proceeds of “1984”

As you know, our charitable commitment is very dear to us! We usually donate to local charities – to give back right here at home – and international charities connected with education.

We also like to know exactly where our donations go and what they are used for, so we visited “Schutzengeldorf für behinderte Katzen”, the “Center of Love” in Cairo and Verein “GEMMA – gemeinsam machen”.

GEMMA – gemeinsam machen” is an initiative founded by Uni Graz students which brings together young Austrians and young refugees for all sorts of intercultural activities, such as making music, playing football or studying together. We love this idea and all the great projects this group has come up with! Check out their website or facebook page!! We crashed their lovely xmas get-together…

The “Schutzengeldorf für behinderte Katzen” is run by Renate Riedel, who devotes all her spare time to care for disabled, abused and abandoned cats and gives them a loving new home. We were deeply impressed by her commitment!

Diana – our “Pennyless Players ambassador to Egypt” – went to see the amazing work the team of the “Center of Love” around Rebecca Atallah are doing for disabled children in Mokattam, the garbage village of Cairo/Egypt. It is a daycare center for children and young adults with mental or physical disabilities where they get physical therapy and education. They also do some arts & crafts like decorating bags, candles or drawing. The “Center of Love” fights for the visibility and acceptance of disability in a rough neighbourhood – we wholeheartedly support this cause!

We also donated to “Frauenhaus Graz“.
