Been missing The Pennyless Players? Us too! We return this May and June with four workshops for people who want to improve their acting skills or even just try out acting for the very first time. No prior experience needed and also a great opportunity to get to know The Pennyless Players!
Each workshop is open for up to eight participants (first come, first served) and will take roughly four and a half hours. All dates take place at DaT-Probenhaus (Orpheumgasse 11, Graz). To register, just drop us an email at thepennylessplayers@gmail.com with the date you want to join and your name. Registration ends 48 hours before the date of the respective workshop. Participation is entirely free (though we appreciate spare change to cover e.g. our printing costs)!
Without further organisational ado, here’s what we have in store for you:
Monologue workshops
May 21, starting 14:00
May 28, starting 12:00
Our first two workshops will give you the basic tools to take on and prepare a brand new monologue. After introductions and some warm-up games, you will be able to choose from a selection of short monologues to work with over the course of roughly four hours. Together, we will explore the texts and how to interpret them on stage, covering, for example, strategies for forming characters quickly and combating stage fright. Skills that could also help you ace your next big audition!
Collaborative workshops
June 4, starting 14:00, theme: “Space Out”
June 11, starting 12:00, theme: “Who Can Relate”
With the themes of “Space Out,” and “Who Can Relate,” these two Collaborative Workshops will be unlike any other you’ve experienced before. All you need is your favorite writing utensil, something to write on, and a good attitude to work with others. In just four hours, each collaborative workshop hopes to create a scene as a group based on the topic of the day. Not dissimilar to improv, this workshop is beginner friendly, and will also teach helpful skills of character building, team work in a cast of actors, and aid actors in exploring new kinds of theatre direction.
