CCTA 2023: All Good Things Must Begin

For many years, The Pennyless Players have participated in the biannual global event Climate Change Theatre Action, performing short plays about the climate crisis written by an international cast of playwrights.

CCTA is back in 2023 and we are back on stage – this year in collaboration with the Department for American Studies at the University of Graz. We are going to perform the three CCTA short plays

  • Magical Fungi in Times Square by Chantal Bilodeau
  • That’s the Late-Night Show by Vitor Jatobá
  • The Mermaid by Nikhil Katara

as the starting point for this event about the possible intersections of art and science in tackling the issue of global warming. The performances will be followed by a panel discussion involving members of The Pennyless Players, Graz International Bilingual School (GIBS), and the university (including the Wegener Center für Klima und globalen Wandel). While the plays are in English, the discussion will be in German. Find out more about the event (including the program) at the Institut für Amerikanistik’s website (in German).
