The Pennyless Players at Sprachenfest 2023

On September 22 – the European Day of Languages – we once again got the opportunity to perform a short play at the Grazer Sprachenfest 2023 in front of a diverse audience of language enthusiasts, school classes and friends of The Pennyless Players.

Our contribution this year took the form of the world premiere of The Most Beautiful Place in the World, written by our amazing C. G. Kimbell. The audience got an immersive introduction to The Most Beautiful Place in the World by our endearing tour guides, followed by an energetic musical number, and finally, the story of main characters Jamie and Allison, growing from complete strangers to friends and building an intimate connection.

We had a lot of fun experimenting with improvisation and our very own musical number, since we are incredibly lucky to find people among The Pennyless Players willing to choreograph, write and produce our very own “Most Beautiful Song”, all in their own free time.

We would like to thank C. G. Kimbell for writing this beautiful play, all of our actors for doing such an amazing job at bringing our ideas together, Charlie Puhr for writing lyrics, Zbigniew Nowitzki for producing this song, Julia Hausstätter for taking over the important jobs of stage design, stage manager and tech, and Lena Eigner for coming up with an exciting musical choreography. And of course, a very special Thank You to Sprachennetzwerk Graz for inviting us yet again to the Grazer Sprachenfest 2023!
