Casting call: Circle Mirror Transformation

The time has come to announce our next feature-length play: Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker. The Pennyless Players will return to Kristallwerk in May 2026 to bring the beauty of  human connection, empathy and self discovery to the stage through theater.

But before we can perform it, we need a cast! This is YOUR opportunity to join The Pennyless Players and participate in a theatre production over the next few months!

We are once again holding open castings, this time only looking for actors. Theatre enthusiasts of every background and level of experience are welcome!

Casting dates

Sat 6th Dec – 12:30-14:30pm

Sun 7th Dec – 1:30-3:30pm

Mon 8th Dec – 1:30-3:30pm

Tue 9th Dec – 6:30-8:30pm

(The casting process itself will start 30mins after the set time, giving everyone time to arrive, get comfortable and perhaps socialize. All in all, it should not take longer than 1,5 hours.)

Since this play focuses heavily on human connection and chemistry (or the lack thereof), we would like the casting to reflect those ideas. We will therefore have it designed like a theater workshop rather than having each actor standing in front us, reciting monologues one by one. The casting will be a group casting involving all actors present that day.

In order to prepare accordingly, we need you to fill out this audition sheet and tell us on which day you will join us, as well as some information about yourself.

REGISTRATION ENDS 1st of December at midnight!

Where?

Das andere Theater Probenhaus

Orpheumgasse 11, 8020 Graz

Final rehearsals and performances will take place in the week from May 4th to May 10th 2026. You will have to be available at least from late afternoon onwards on those days. Rehearsals will start January 2026 and take your availabilities into account.

If you have any questions, feel free to email us at thepennylessplayers@gmail.com.

About the play

In a six-week summer class, five people from various backgrounds get to know each other in an arguably unconventional way – theatre. Through a series of deceptively simple theatre games and improvisations, they slowly peel back the layers of everyday politeness and self‑protection. The group eventually reaches beneath each other’s skin, opening up possibilities of raw, honest human connection and messy relationships. What begins as playful exercise soon becomes an unfiltered exploration of vulnerability, trust, and the power of being truly seen.

Annie Baker explores the very essence of the human condition. Her characters are flawed, real and written with profound empathy. We invite you to bring them to life: to listen, to risk, and to connect!
