Script-Tease: Special Shakespearean Summer Semester 2026!
Something wicked this way comes… This summer semester, the Pennyless Players are launching a special Shakespearean version of our script-tease!
What’s New:
We bid secrecy adieu – all scripts are pre-planned so you know what you’re getting into. Also, due to length, we are splitting each play to be read over two evenings.
Workshops! Does the idea of reading Shakespeare worry you? Fear not, your hosts will introduce you to all scary things (Early Modern English! Iambic Pentameter! Complicated Plots! Bawdy Jokes! Aaaand More!) so you can join the readings feeling confident.
While walk-ins are welcome, and we understand that the full program may not be doable for everyone, attending at least one workshop is highly encouraged, as is attending both parts of a play. In division of reading parts, priority will be given to workshop participants and to those readers who have attended prior sessions.
What’s the Same:
It’s still free! (though donations to offset printing and snack expenses are greatly appreciated)
It’s still reading! Get to know up to six Shakespeare plays by reading them together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
It’s still a celebration! The Stammtisch will directly follow our workshops to allow for a well-earned carousing; drinks and snacks are provided for the readings in order to make the Shakespearean text flow and our spirits glad.
When & Where:
All workshops are on SATURDAYS, run from 15:30 – 18:00, and take place at DAT (Orpheumgasse 11).
March 7, Much Ado About Nothing, DAT, EG
March 21, Romeo and Juliet, DAT, EG
April 11, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, DAT, 1A
April 25, Othello, DAT,1B
May 2, Richard II, DAT, 1B

Readings: Each workshopped play will subsequently be read at this semester’s script-tease: dates and times TBA.
How to Join:
No previous experience is required, nor is there any obligation to attend all dates/events. Ideally, sign up in advance here; spontaneous attendees are also welcome to drop in!
Who’s to Blame:
Joining Cecilia in hosting this year we have the brilliant Muireall; together we shall lead you all with a hey, a ho, and a hey nonny no!
