CASTING CALL: Absurdist short plays

And now for something completely different!

We’re thrilled to announce that we will be staging another full-scale production this year! Which means, of course, we will need actors and stage crew.

This coming production will be a little different than the other shows done in spring. Instead of one full-length play, we will be staging several individual one-acts. Each one-act will have its own director, and each will have its own unique cast.

The auditions will be held at Das andere Theater Probenhaus (Orpheumgasse 11) on the following dates:
July 4 & July 5: 14:00-17:00
July 6 & July 7: 17:00-20:00

Each play will get to perform twice at Stockwerk from 19-22 of November, so mark your calendars! There’s no need to sign up in advance; just show up to one day of auditions and we’ll greet you with audition material there. As always, no experience is required, and feel free to let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you there!

The short plays are as follows:

CORKSCREW!, by Lucy Gossler — directed by Lucy Gossler

Two groups of burglars accidentally burgle the same home. They start fighting among each other. A rich woman contemplates killing her husband. Things don’t go as planned.

REVOLT, SHE SAID, REVOLT AGAIN, by Alice Birch — directed by Clara Hudel

A radical feminist manifesto and guide toward the eradication of the male sex.

THE UNVEILING, by Vaclav Havel — directed by Sophia Riederer & Elaine Haase

Vanek is invited by a married couple, who call themselves his best friends, into their newly remodeled home. But as they are showing off their most recent interior acquisitions and perfectly flawless relationship to him, something is starting to feel not quite right…
“The Unveiling” covers themes of perfectionism and consumerism and asks the question: Do we conform to the status quo and retreat into our private lives or do we want to try to bring positive societal change?

PRELUDE & FUGUE STATE, by Muireall Chilcote — directed by Muireall Chilcote

Tiffany Tragicflaw suffers from a rare illness of the mind called “Literary Madness,” which afflicts her with regular bouts of plot-relevant psychosis. The reckless and medically irresponsible Dr. Fionnuala Femmefatale helps Tiffany determine her narrative role in the self-referential fractured fairytale into which her visions lead her.
