The Play
People, tents and glitter strewn about. The bass humming in the distance, creeping into every inbetween, every silence left by words unsaid. Flickering lights. Are the tents moving? A sense of magic hangs in the air, as our scene unfolds.
A group of friends heads out to a music festival, where they are confronted with supernatural forces, in the form of witches from different time periods. Or maybe it’s just the drugs? The lights? The music? Faced with the prospect of losing her sanity, the main character is forced to confront her internal struggles. This is a play about denying yourself to be the realest version of yourself. A play about feminism, and what shapes women press themselves into to be more palateable in society. It is a play about friendship and love. And about language, music and magic. There are themes of drug use and abortion.
